Overnight Orange French Toast

Ingredients
- Servings: 6
- 4 eggs (or egg beaters)
- 2/3 cup orange juice
- 1/3 cup milk
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 loaf french bread or 1 loaf italian bread
- 1/4 cup butter or 1/4 cup margarine
- 1/2 cup pecan halves or 1/2 cup any type nuts, chopped
Recipe
- 1 beat eggs with a wire whisk.
- 2 beat in orange juice, milk, sugar, vanilla and nutmeg.
- 3 cut french bread diagonally into 1 inch slices.
- 4 place slices into a 9x13 dish (there is often enough bread and batter left to use an additional small dish).
- 5 pour 1/2 the egg mixture over the bread.
- 6 turn the bread and coat with the remaining egg mixture.
- 7 cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
- 8 when ready to serve, preheat oven to 375.
- 9 pour melted butter into a jellyroll pan.
- 10 arrange bread in a single layer.
- 11 top with nuts.
- 12 bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until french toast is brown and puffy.
- 13 serves about 6.
