Ingredients

- 1/2 cup softened butter
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 cup molasses
- 1 egg
- 2 1/4 cups flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 teaspoons ginger
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon clove
- 1 cup boiling water
Recipe
- 1 heat oven to 350°f.
- 2 beat butter with sugar and molasses.
- 3 mix in egg.
- 4 sift dry ingredients and add to wet mixture, alternately with water, until just combined.
- 5 bake in greased 9 inch square pan 40 minutes.
