Raisin Biscuits

Ingredients

  • Servings: 12
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1/3 cup shortening or 1/3 cup lard
  • 1 1/2 cups raisins or 1 1/2 cups sultanas

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 450f and lightly grease a baking pan.
  • 2 sift dry ingredients together.
  • 3 cut shortening into flour mixture.
  • 4 beat eggs and add to milk; stir into flour mixture.
  • 5 add raisins.
  • 6 turn onto a well-floured board and knead lightly until smooth, using more flour if necessary.
  • 7 gently pat out 1/2" thick.
  • 8 cut with small biscuit cutter and bake for 15 minutes or until golden.
  • 9 serve hot.
