Bread Halwa

Total Time: 40 mins Preparation Time: 20 mins Cook Time: 20 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 7 slices sweet bread
  • 1/2 liter milk
  • 1 tablespoon ghee
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • oil (for deep frying)
  • 1 cup cream
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
  • cashew nuts (for garnishing)
  • pistachios (for garnishing)
  • almonds (for garnishing)

Recipe

  • 1 remove bread crusts from bread slices.
  • 2 cut into medium size squares.
  • 3 deep fry the slices in hot oil till golden brown on both sides.
  • 4 soak the slices in milk for half an hour.
  • 5 heat a heavy bottomed vessel.
  • 6 add the soaked bread slices, sugar, cream and cocoa powder.
  • 7 keep stirring till it reaches halwa consistency.
  • 8 add ghee at the end just before removing from flame.
  • 9 garnish with the fried nuts.
  • 10 serve hot.
