Raisin Bread

Total Time: 1 hr Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 45 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup unseasoned mashed potatoes
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 2 (1/4 ounce) packages yeast
  • 7 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 cups raisins
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup butter (melted) or 1/2 cup margarine (melted)

Recipe

  • 1 scald milk, remove from heat, and add sugar, salt, butter and mashed potatoes.
  • 2 let cool.
  • 3 dissolve yeast in water, then mix with milk.
  • 4 add raisins and flour. stir.
  • 5 let rise in warm place for about 1½ hours.
  • 6 then divide dough into 2 loaves.
  • 7 then mix the following ingredients separately: 1/2 cup sugar, 2 teaspoons cinnamon,.
  • 8 1/2 cup butter or margarine (melted)
  • 9 then roll the set aside loaves out on a board and put half of butter, sugar and cinnamon mixture on each roll.
  • 10 roll up as for a jelly roll and pinch edges together.
  • 11 bake in loaf pans at 350 degrees to 375 degrees for 45 minutes.
  • 12 makes 2 loaves.
