Old-fashioned Gingerbread

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 2/3 cup boiling water (add last)
Recipe
- 1 mix all ingredients together, adding the water last.
- 2 put into a 12-inch greased baking pan (or two 8-inch cake pans).
- 3 bake at 375° for about 30 minutes or until it tests done to touch or with a toothpick.
