Macaroni And Cheese

Total Time: 55 mins Preparation Time: 30 mins Cook Time: 25 mins

Ingredients

  • 2 cups uncooked macaroni
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper (i often use pepper)
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion (or more)
  • 1 teaspoon worcestershire sauce
  • 3 cups milk
  • 3 cups sharp cheddar cheese

Recipe

  • 1 cook macaroni per package directions and drain. set aside.
  • 2 melt butter. add flour, salt, mustard, and pepper. cook, stirring constantly for 2 minutes. do not brown.
  • 3 add milk, onion and worcestershire sauce. cook until thickened and smooth (depending on how fine your onions are chopped will determine the smoothness).
  • 4 stir in cheese continuing to stir until melted and creamy.
  • 5 combine cheese sauce and macaroni. pour into a 2.5 quart prepared casserole.
  • 6 you can top with additonal cheese or bread crumbs, if desired. bake at 350 for 25 minutes or until hot through.
