Fried Hot Water Cornbread

Total Time: 20 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 5 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 cup self-rising cornmeal
  • 1/3 cup self-rising flour
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • oil (for frying)

Recipe

  • 1 mix cornmeal and flour in mixing bowl.
  • 2 pour in boiling water (may need to add a little more to make mixture stick together.
  • 3 stir well.
  • 4 let cool for a few minutes.
  • 5 preheat iron skillet or griddle and add enough oil to cover bottom of skillet.
  • 6 spoon about 1/4 cup into hot skillet.
  • 7 brown on both sides.
  • 8 drain on paper towel and serve while still hot.
