Leeks Au Gratin

Ingredients

- 8 large leeks, part only, halved lengthwise and cut into 6-inch pieces
- boiling salt water
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded
- salt
- pepper
- 1/2 cup seasoned bread crumbs
Recipe
- 1 preheat oven to 350°f.
- 2 make sure leeks have been rinsed well.
- 3 cook in boiling salted water until slightly tender, about 5 minutes.
- 4 drain.
- 5 place cut side up in a greased baking dish.
- 6 pour cream over the leeks.
- 7 sprinkle with cheese, salt and pepper.
- 8 bake until cream has thickened and cheese is melted, about 10-15 minutes.
- 9 preheat broiler.
- 10 sprinkle bread crumbs over leeks.
- 11 place 4" from heat source and broil until lightly browned, 2-3 minutes.
